DOOR COUNTY: DCIST Strategic Plan Update

Door County Soil & Water Conservation Department is sponsoring a project to update the Door County Invasive Species Team\2019s (DCIST) strategic plan to reflect current practices, update species lists, update efforts, and update future goals, with partner support and guidance. This updated plan will provide the guidance for invasive species management and prevention efforts in Door County. The strategic plan will serve as a tool for municipalities who are looking to adopt and have adopted a noxious weed ordinance, provide guidance to landowners (including private citizens and public property landowners), and serve as a guidance document for DCIST to continue the mission of helping prevent, monitor, and control invasive species in Door County.

Project final deliverables include: 1) Meet with DCIST partners eight times over the course of the two-year project period to incorporate partner's ideas and provide them with the opportunity for input during plan drafting. Updates to the plan will include current practices, species lists, future goals, and highlight recent efforts and successes; 2) Engage the public about plan updates through media outlets, public participation, and local municipalities; 3) Print with final approvals a 2023-2028 DCIST strategic plan that has partner and community support. Provide copies for each partner organization in addition to sharing a copy of the plan in electronic form on public websites such as doorinvasives.org; 4) Develop final report summarizing the project.

This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
