CALUMET COUNTY: Calumet County AIS Coordinator Project

The Calumet County Planning Department proposes to conduct an aquatic invasive species (AIS) education, prevention, planning and control project during the period of October 2009 to December 2012. The project includes hiring a coordinator; improve coordinated county wide strategy for the prevention and control of AIS; notify AIS state coordinator of new AIS infestations; prioritize eradication efforts and work with units of government; assist government agencies in finding grants to help finance eradication; track AIS by using GIS technology; expand countywide database of partners; continue CBCW program; educational outreach including press releases, electronic news letters, volunteer field days with control demos and field work, AIS meetings, training for local and county road crews; distribution of brochures and tool box usage; and continually updating the website identifying participation events for the public and AIS in Calumet county.
