LAKE ELLWOOD ASSOCIATION, INC: Lake Ellwood AIS Control Project
Lake Ellwood Association is sponsoring a five year project that will focus on EWM management, AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 10 acres, have the frequency of EWM being observed at less than 10% of littoral point-intercept locations within a whole-lake survey and all EWM stands below a density of D=1.
Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM and rusty crayfish control; 2) Annual pre/post treatment monitoring and analysis; 3) Project kick-off meeting, wrap-up meeting and AIS training; 4) Boat landing signs; 5) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring and hand removal; 6) Purchase GPS unit for volunteer monitoring; 7) Annual volunteer CB/CW watercraft inspections; 8) Entry of inspection and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 9) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey and community mapping; 10) Annual and final reports.
