ROCK RIVER COALITION, INC: Dane County and Driftless Area New Zealand Mudsnail Outreach and Monitoring

RRC is sponsoring monitoring and outreach efforts of New Zealand Mudsnails (NZMS) in three streams; Token Creek, Elvers Creek, Fryes Feeder. RRC will complete outreach, installation of boot brush stations, decontamination kits, and outreach to prevent the further spread of NZMS. Surveying of the current extent of the NSMS population within Dane County will be completed.. Project final deliverables include: all data collected; reporting of volunteer trainings held (including date, location, number and names of participants); reporting of number and locations of boot brush stations installed or maintained; reporting of number, dates, and locations of decontamination kits distributed; reporting of number of media, press releases, factsheets, and other relevant outreach materials distributedSpecific project activities include: 1) Train 5-10 volunteers on WDNR-approved early detection monitoring method for NZMS 2) conduct early detection monitoring for NZMS at at least 11 sites per summer from 2023 through 2026 3) Educate Water Action Volunteers on NZMS risks, identification, and reporting finds 4) Construct and install nine boot brush stations 2023-2034 5) Assemble and distribute at least 33 decontamination kits to anglers 6) Develop and distribute outreach video aimed at paddlers in collaboration with the River Alliance of Wisconsin 7) Develop and distribute outreach materials Special Conditions: 1) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS database 2) All new potential NZMS findings will be promptly reported to the WDNR Regional Aquatic Invasive Species CoordinatorThis scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein.
