INVASIVE PLANTS ASSOC OF WI: AIS Education and Prevention thru Invasive Species Awareness Month

The Invasive Plants Association of Wisconsin will conduct Invasive Species Awareness Month (ISAM) for two years. This statewide program educates and trains volunteers to monitor for and report shoreline and wetland AIS, and provides for volunteer recognition. Early detection is the first step to controlling highly invasive aquatic species. IPAW will solicit and advertise field trips, workshops and training events throughout the year, maintain their website, and distribute educational materials to DNR properties, county AIS coordinators, extension offices and other partners. New findings of AIS will be documented in the SWIMS database, as well as included in the final report. Awards will be given each year to recognize outstanding participants.
