DOOR COUNTY: Door County AIS Edu., Prevent. and Planning

Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department proposes to conduct education, prevention and planning activities to control and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) within Door County during the period of 2011-2013. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Door County Aquatic Invasive Species Grant application dated 8/1/11. Project start/end dates are 10/1/11.

The project includes work that will be conducted on a Statewide AIS Source Water at Source Water at 50% or more of the time being spent on Lake Michigan. The Door County AISC will particpate in the Fourth of July Landing Blitz, continueto install new State AIS signs and extab lish a partnership with local law enforcement regarding NR 40 issues. Monitoring and mapping of aquatic invasive species will continue throughtout the project as well as conducting 200 hours of CBCW per year. The Door County AISC plans to host CLMN and Project Red trainining and implement Purple Loostrife biocontrol efforts where applicable.

Annual progress reports and a final report summmarizing the two-year project will be provided to DNR. If a consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended the Grantee provide the DNR AIS Coordiantor with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both papaer and electronic pdf. copies of the final report along with, or prior to, submission of grantee's final payment request. ANy publications or signs produced as part of this project will incorporate the "Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!" brand.
