OCONTO COUNTY: Oconto County AIS Edu. & Control

Oconto County Land and Conservation Division proposes to conduct education, prevention and planning activities to control and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) within Oconto County during the period of 2011-2014. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Oconto County Aquatic Invasive Species Grant application, dated 7/27/2011.

The project includes work that will be conducted on a Statewide AIS Source Water at 50% or less of time being spent on major source waters (Lake Michigan) and the majority of the time being spent on inland lakes. The Oconto County AISC will participate in the \201C4th of July Landing Blitz,\201D install new State AIS signs, use the \201CProtect WI Waters/It\2019s the Law\201D where applicable, purchase and use a portable boat washer. Monitoring and mapping of aquatic invasive species will be conducted throughout the project as well as conducting 200 hours of CBCW per year. Watercraft inspection records and Citizen Lake Monitoring records will be entered into the State\2019s online SWIMS Database. This project plans to produce a county-wide AIS Strategic Plan initiated by the county AIS Coordinator.

Annual progress reports and a final report summarizing the two-year project will be provided to DNR. If a consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended the Grantee provide the DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to, submission of grantee\2019s final payment request.
