PHILLIPS CHAIN O'LAKES ASSOC: Phillips Chain AIS Control & Prevention Project - Implementation Phase 2

The Phillips Chain of Lakes Association is sponsoring an AIS Control and Prevention Project which will implement recommendations contained in the 2011 Aquatic Plant Management Plan focusing on Eurasian Water Milfoil. The project includes evaluating a whole lake chemical treatment on Wilson Flowage (2012) and spot treatments in Long and Duroy Lakes (2012). A herbicide treatment is proposed (2013) on Duroy Lake but will not be funded as part of this grant.

The project includes the following goals: 1) Wilson lake Point-Intercept Survey( Summer 2013); 2) Pretreatment confirmation and refinement survey (Spring 2013); 3) Quantitative EWM Monitoring (sub-sample PI survey)(Spring, summer 2013); 4) EWM peak biomass surveys (Summer 2013); 5) Pre/Post evaluation monitoring; 6) Wild Rice Survey and map creation; 7) Clean Boats Clean Waters monitoring Program; 8) Purple loosestrife Control program; 9) AIS surveillance and hand pulling.

Project deliverables include: A final report will be completed discussing the results of the surveys and recommended treatment strategies for 2014.

Specific conditions for this Project: 1) The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project; 2) Make sure lake association members are informed about this project; 3) Provide hard copy of point intercept data in proper spreadsheet format.
