GOLDEN SANDS RC&D: AIS Coordinator South Central

The Golden Sands RC & D is sponsoring an AIS \2013 Education Grant to hire a County AIS Coordinator for Green Lake and Marquette Counties. Project activities include but are not limited to:

1. CBCW inspections, CBCW & CLMN Workshops, Purple Loosestrife assistance (propagation, education)

2. AIS Inventories (all public access lakes in Counties) and early detection / response coordination.

3. Aquatic Plant Surveys

4. Milfoil weevil surveys

5. Education and Outreach Program (schools, media, lake associations, bait dealers, garden centers)

a. Organize citizen based AIS control programs

6. Develop County AIS Plans (DNR approval required)

7. Monthly \201Ccheck in\201D call or meeting with DNR Lakes Coordinator

Project Deliverables

1. County AIS Plans (DNR approved)

2. Maps of AIS occurrence on area lakes

3. Native plant species lists for all surveyed lakes.

4. Three AIS press releases and 2 school outreach events

5. Regional AIS Inventories (uploaded to SWIMS)

6. Final Report

Project Timeline

1. Final Report will be completed by 12/31/2015.
