FOREST COUNTY SILVER LAKE ASSOC: Silver Lake Management Planning Project
The Forest County Silver Lake Association will conduct work to complete a Lake Management Plan in response to managing Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM). The study components will provide the baseline data to access the lake ecosystem condition, while the stakeholder participation will shed light on the expectation and needs of lake users. This will allow for development of a long-term and implementable plan for Silver Lake.
The project includes the following goals: 1) Involve local stakeholders in the planning process; 2) Conduct spring EWM check (2014); 3) Conduct EWM peak biomass survey (2014); 4) Conduct point -intercept plant survey (2014); 5) Complete native and non-native community mapping; 6) Complete a shoreline and course woody habitat assessment; 7) Complete a watershed assessment; 8) Conduct lake water quality monitoring/evaluation; 9) Compile fisheries data information; 10) Development of a lake management plan (including EWM control options).
Project deliverables: A final report including methodologies and results of the tasks listed above. Management, protection, enhancement alternatives and recommendations should be presented along with continued public education issues. Recommendations for remedial actions and further study options should be included specifically for Silver Lake and its drainage basin.
Specific conditions for this Project: WDNR review of the draft Lake Management Plan; WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project.
