LAC VIEUX DESERT LAKE ASSOCIATION, INC: Lac Vieux Desert Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention & Control Project
Lac Vieux Desert Lake Association is sponsoring an ACEI grant on Lac Vieux Desert Lake, in Vilas County. This project will focus on EWM management in Lac Vieux Desert Lake.
Project activities include: 1) Annual hand and DASH removal of EWM; 2) Annual pre/post treatment monitoring, analysis and mapping (early season and mid-late summer AIS surveys for EWM and CLP); 3) Annual wild rice mapping; 4) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring; 5) Conduct boat washing; 6) Entry of monitoring data onto SWIMS; 7) Develop annual project report and final report.
Project deliverables include: 1) Removal of EWM; 2) EWM Pre/post treatment data and mapping; 3) Wild rice maps; 4) Entered monitoring data onto SWIMS; 5) AIS educational, prevention and monitoring activities; 6) Annual reports and final report summarizing EWM management during project and future EWM/CLP management direction, boat washing activities, inspection activities, AIS monitoring and AIS educational activities.
Specific Conditions for this project: Annual reports and final report needs Dept. review and approval.
WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of all annual reports, final report, all maps, all GIS, AIS and aquatic plant survey data, and samples of educational and outreach products.
