UPPER SUGAR RIVER WATERSHED ASSOCIATION: Implementing the 5 Yr. AIS Strategic Plan
The Upper Sugar River Watershed Association plans to implement their 5-year AIS strategic plan, which was completed in a prior grant. Included in this well-rounded monitoring, education and prevention project, they will engage in a variety of public education and outreach activities, such as install and maintain wader wash stations at priority sites for New Zealand mudsnail containment, and do projects with local students like releasing purple loosetrife biocontrol beetles and monitoring for mudsnails. They will do project RED surveys, and maintain their online mapping application. Controlling new infestations of AIS and following up with current control efforts will also be done. They will expand their partnerships, and communicate with stakeholders through their newsletter, social media and emails. They will also invite public participation through their Annual Meeting and Paddle and Pig-Out event.
