CROOKED LAKES AREA LAKES PRTCTN & REHAB DIST: Crooked Lake APM Plan Project
The Crooked Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to develop an Aquatic Plant Management (APM) Plan in 2006, which will focus on native plant protection and prevention, and control of aquatic invasive species (AIS). The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Crooked Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant application, dated January 16, 2006. The project includes conducting aquatic plant surveys on Crooked, Bass and Gilkey Lakes; determining the extent, distribution and density of AIS, including curly-leaf pondweed, Eurasian water-milfoil and purple loosestrife; developing an herbarium of pressed plants for use by Crooked Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District members; preparing and developing an APM Plan consistent with DNR guidelines, including an AIS prevention and control plan; creating geographic information system produced maps of the plant community; educating the lake users of native plant protection and AIS prevention and control measures.
