CITY OF MADISON: ACQ-Cherokee Marsh Expansion - Muller Parcel
The City of Madison Parks Commission will acquire approximately 13.6 acres of land, for lake protection and outdoor recreation purposes, on the north shore of Lake Mendota, adjacent to property they already own. This parcel acquisition is consistent with the 1981 Cherokee Long-Range Open Space Plan (1981) which designated this land as high priority for acquisition. The land will be developed as bicycle/pedestrian/jogging and hiking trails, preservation of a scenic Lake Mendota overlook, natural woodlands and Indian burial mounds. Eligible costs include acquisition of the parcel, appraisal fee and prepration of an environmental assesment.
