FOREST LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION: Forest Lake High pH & Weevil Egg Stugy
The Forest Lake Improvement Association proposes to conduct an investigation as to whether sudden exposure of weevil eggs to elevated pH is the limiting factor preventing successful biological control of Eurasian Watermilfoil. The aquatic weevil Euhrychiopsis lecontei will be used. The project's goals will be to accurately measure pH levels in Forest Lake within all milfoil beds throughout the growing season; conduct lab analysis of lake water and milfoil plants; conduct lab cultures of weevils utilizing lake water and milfoil plants; and conduct weekly lab analysis of weevils in all life forms, after introduction into the lake.
