HALF MOON LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Half Moon Lake Watershed Wetlands Protection Planning
The Half Moon Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to develop a long range plan for the protection/acquisition of critical wetlands in the Half Moon Lake watershed. Project activities include 1) analysis and evaluation of the four principal wetlands in the watershed, 2) determining the relationship of the four areas to the total lake ecosystem, 3) analysis of wetland laws and relationship to lake district goals, 4) determine best protection alternatives including financing and funding alternatives, and 5) determine reasonable timeline for the acquisition of or other protective measures in wetland areas. A final report will be prepared discussing the project activities and results. Information about the project will be disseminated to the public by newsletter mailing, factsheet distribution, summary report mailing, and public meeting.
