MUNGER BEAR LAKE DISTRICT: Bear Lake Comp Lk Management Plan
The Munger Bear Lake District proposes to contuct a project on Bear Lake that will involve developing a Comprehensive Lake Management Plan aimed to assess the current conditions and processes with the lake and its watershed and develop feasible alternatives to protect the lake as a natural and important ecosystem. The goal of the management plan would be to protect and enhance the lake and its watershed in an effort to maintain or improve the trophic status of the lake. An important aspect of the project will be educating the people who live around and use the lake. The project will also include assessing the watershed land use and using the WILMS model and other information to partition watershed phosphorus loading. A GIS map will be generated to show various land uses and environmentally sensitive areas. Water quality information will be gathered to develop TSI values along with being used with the Wisconsin Internal Load Estimator and WILMS to determine internal loading estimates and help determine response and sensitivity to watershed phosphorus loadings. An aquatic plant survey will be done and the commuinty will be mapped transferred onto a digital map with lake depth contours. Also sensitive areas of particular importance would be identified.
