TOWN OF BARABOO: Devil's Lake Phosphorus Reduction & Hydrologic Study
1) Conduct sediment coring and bottom water withdrawal experiments to evaluate these techniques to reduce phosphorus concentrations in the lake sediments and thereby reduce the rate of internal phosphorus cycling in the lake. 2) Conduct a hydrologic study of the lake to determine inflow and outflow rates, and calibrate a water budget model designed to stimulate lake stage. 3) USGS will prepare a draft report, summarizing the model simulations described in 2 above, in 1993. The final report will be published in 1994. 4) USGS is contributing a matching $12,500.00. DNR will receive copies of all reports. Information will be disseminated to the public by local newspaper articles and public meetings. Project results will be reposited at DNR and USGS computer databases, Agency and University libraries and scientific journals.
