TOWN OF NEWBOLD: AIS Boat Inspection, Education, Rapid Response Project

The Town of Newbold, is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project on Two Sisters Lake. The project will focus on preventing AIS introductions into Two Sisters Lake, monitoring for AIS, developing a rapid response plan for any AIS introductions and providing AIS education.

Project activities include:

1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at public landing on Two Sisters Lake from May 6-September 30, 2006

2) Hire an AIS Coordinator (duties include training/scheduling volunteers, landing inspections, AIS monitoring, and entry of inspection forms)

3) Deliver suspect AIS to rapid response team and WDNR

4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 onto Dept website by Coordinator

5) Conduct in-water AIS monitoring in June, July and August

6) Develop AIS information packet

7) Install AIS signage/kiosks at public landing
