LONG LAKE ASSOCIATION OF VILAS COUNTY: Aquatic Plant Management Plans
Long Lake Association is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Education, Planning and Prevention grant to be completed by June 30, 2007. Big Sand Lake Property Owners Association is a project partner. The project will focus on developing APM Plans for Long and Big Sand Lakes in Vilas County. Completion of an APM Plan will allow for potential Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) cost sharing grants and permits for Eurasian water-milfoil (EWM) control.
Project activities include:
1) Review and summarize available aquatic plant survey data from point-intercept surveys completed summer '06.
2) Administer a public questionnaire regarding lake management activities
3) Hold at least 3 meetings throughout project
4) Aquatic plant community mapping and analysis
5) Delineate watershed and land uses
6) Summarize existing water quality information
7) Educational article
8) AIS education and prevention efforts through meetings, article, and APM Plan implementation recommendations
9) Develop APM Plan
