The Inland Lakes P&R Dist. proposes to: a) control Eurasian water-milfoil (EWM) through chemical treatment in the waters of the Inland Lakes P&R Dist, and b) in partnership with the Townsend Flowage Assn, conduct EWM monitoring and preventative measures in the waters of the Inland Lakes P&R Dist and Townsend Flowage, during the period 2007 - 2010. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Inland Lakes P&R District AIS Grant application, dated January 25, 2007. The project includes conducting pre- and post-treatment surveys and surveys of untreated waters annually to monitor the presence of EWM and other aquatic invasive species (AIS), extent of EWM and the efficacy of the previous year's treatment; installing and relocating buoys to mark known EWM beds; treating EWM infested areas in waters of the Inland Lakes P&R Dist with aquatic herbicide(s); performing water quality testing for watershed assessment, with the results sent to the State Lab of Hygiene; and conducting education and prevention activities to prevent further AIS infestations, including constructing and erecting kiosks at boat landings, mailing educational information to District and Association members, and conducting watercraft inspections.
