ONEIDA COUNTY: Oneida County Phragmites Rapid Response Project
Oneida County is sponsoring an Early Detection/Response project which will focus on genetic testing, qualitative surveying, and management of the recent discovery of Phagmites in Rhinelander Flowage, Oneida County
Project activities include: 1) coordination of management/control of non-native Phragmites with manual and chemical methods; 3) pre/post management evaluation monitoring; 4) native plant restoration following Phragmites control; and 5) assistance in AIS survey of Rhinelander Flowage.
Project deliverables include: 1) project update including: a) Phragmites genetic information, survey data and maps; b) reports of pre-post stand conditions; c) summary of management/control and restoration activities; 2) final report including maps of all findings, results of management efforts, project highlights, and management recommendations.
Specific conditions for this project: Project update and final reports need Department review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of letter reports, all maps, and all GIS data.
