TOWN OF BOULDER JUNCTION: Gresham Lakes Management Planning Project - Phase I Stakeholder Participation
The Town of Boulder Junction is sponsoring large scale lake planning grants to study the Gresham Chain of Lakes in Vilas County with a study completion date of December 31, 2008. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for the Gresham Chain of Lakes. Completion of a LMP will allow for potential Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) cost sharing grants and permits for Eurasian water-milfoil (EWM) control. Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation - kick-off meeting, survey, planning meetings (up to 2), wrap-up meeting, news release, newsletter article, and progress report 2) Water quality sampling (Secchi, P, Chla, N, Conductivity, pH, Alkalinity, Total Suspended solids, Calcium, DO, and temp) 3) Curly-leaf pondweed survey on entire Chain 4) Point-intercept aquatic plant survey on Lower Gresham Lake with 2 sets of pressed aquatic plants 5) Spring EWM assessment on Upper Gresham Lake 6) Aquatic plant community mapping 7) Fisheries assessment 8) Watershed assessment 9) Zebra mussel monitoring 10) Develop LMP Project deliverables include: 1) Stakeholder survey, news release, newsletter article, and progress report 2) Aquatic plant community and watershed maps 3) Point-intercept aquatic plant data and 2 sets of pressed aquatic plants from Lower Gresham Lake 4) LMP
