OCONTO COUNTY: LCO - Oconto County Lake Study and Planning, Phase 2, Grant 11

The Oconto County Land Conservation Department is sponsoring a multi-phased project to develop a County Wide Lake Study and Planning Project for all lakes in Oconto County with public access.

The project final deliverables of Oconto County Lake Study and Planning, Phase 2, Grant 11 is to create lake management plans for Green, Shay, Star, Ucil, Underwood, and Wescott Lakes. The plans will include the review elements listed in NR 191.45 with brief interpretations written for a citizen audience with sections on water quality, the aquatic plant community, AIS, shorelands, fisheries, lake settings, and watersheds with associated land uses. Overall, this project also proposes to assess the capacity of groups and lake front property owners through Meet Your Scientist/Capacity Building Meetings. The DNR Biologists will conduct Aquatic Plant Point Intercept Surveys, Woody Habitat Surveys, Shoreline Surveys, Aquatic Invasive Species Surveys, Water Quality Sampling, and will update lake bathymetry.

Specific project activities include: 1)Water quality using WisCALM comparisons 2) Include key elements listed in R 191.45

Special Conditions: 1) CLMN efforts should not be duplicated and these data shall be included in the trends analysis and final reporting; 2) All CLMN shall be entered into the SWIMS database.
