GRANITE LAKE ASSOCIATION INC.: Water Quality Survey of Granite Lake
The Granite Lake Association is sponsoring a 1-year small-scale planning grant to generally appraise water quality conditions in the lake. This project will collect water quality data from an additional surface water location designated by the Citizen Lake Monitoring Network, and at two stream sites, one above the lake inlet and one below the lake outlet. Water samples will be analyzed for a suite of inorganic water quality parameters by the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene. In addition, a one time top/bottom paleolimnological core will be collected and evaluated. Watershed analysis data provided by Barron County will be evaluated to determine areas of concern within the watershed. Data from this grant will be combined with existing and future data to help determine the best way to manage Granite Lake to improve or maintain water quality, lake-user satisfaction, and the overall health of the system.
