SPIDER CHAIN OF LAKES ASSOCIATION: Spider Chain of Lakes Comprehensive Lake Management Plan

The Spider Chain of Lakes Association is sponsoring a project which will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) with the following goals/activities: 1) Conduct a sociological survey of lake shoreline residents; 2) Sample lake water quality; 3) Identify watershed boundaries and land cover for the watershed; 4) Monitor flow to develop a rating curve for the outlet stream; 5) Develop water and nutrient budgets for each lake; 6) Conduct shoreland and littoral habitat surveys (following DNR protocol); 7) Gather and assess existing lake information; 8) Develop an updated lake management plan (LMP), including updated aquatic plant management plan (APMP) goals/objectives.

Project deliverables include: 1) Data from stakeholder survey, water quality and flow monitoring, shoreland and littoral habitat surveys, and watershed assessment; 2) Nutrient and water budgets for each lake; 3) Four management plan advisory committee meetings; 3) Annual reports and updated LMP.

Specific project conditions: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey needs to be submitted to DNR for review and approval before sending to public; 2) LMP needs DNR review and approval; 3) WDNR Lake Biologist will be provided with an electronic copy of reports and/or management plans; data from stakeholder survey, water quality, watershed assessment, shoreland and littoral habitat survey (including parcel photos); all maps from project, and all GIS data.

If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
