TOWN OF NEWBOLD: AIS Control : Watercraft Inspection, Adopt-a-Shoreline Inspection & Rapid Response

The Town of Newbold is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, and monitoring.

Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a "Clean Boats, Clean Water" (CB/CW) program at town landings; 2) Hire CB/CW coordinator; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines (two Adopt-A-Shoreline sweeps); 4) Maintain zebra mussel monitoring stations; 5) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 6) Create and distribute CB/CW lures; 7) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, and businesses.
