UNIFIED LOWER EAGLE RIVER CHAIN OF LAKES COM: Eagle River Chain Chemical Residual Monitoring Project
Unified Lower Eagle River Chain of Lakes Commission (ULERCLC), in cooperation with project partners Vilas County LWCD, Onterra, and WDNR, is sponsoring an AIS ACEI research grant on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes in Vilas County to be completed by June 30, 2009. The focus of the project will be to monitor residual levels of 2,4-D pre and post EWM 2,4-D chemical treatments during spring of 2008 to assess rates of chemical breakdown and corresponding efficacy of treatments over differing substrates, EWM densities, water depth, application rates, and flow rates.
Project activities include: 1) Hire technical assistant; 2) Periodic news releases to share progress of project; 3) Intensive, baseline, confirmation, and sediment sampling; 4) Data analysis; 5) Presentation of results at an ULERCLC meeting; 6) Develop final report.
