UNIFIED LOWER EAGLE RIVER CHAIN OF LAKES COM: Eagle River Chain AIS Project Phase 2: Treatment Implementation
The Unified Lower Eagle River Chain of Lakes Commission (ULERCLC) are sponsoring two AIS ACEI grants (one for monitoring and public participation and a second for treatment implementation) on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes in Vilas County to be completed by June 30, 2009. This is a three year, three phase project that will focus on EWM management, and AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to half its current size within three years and allow the ULERCLC to continue management of AIS with minimal state financial assistance.
Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM; 2) Volunteer hand removal of EWM as an experimental EWM control technique; 3) Annual Pre and Post treatment monitoring and analysis; 4) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring; 5) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program; 6) Stakeholder participation: CB/CW training, budget and grant meeting, project status/informational meeting; 7) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 8) Develop annual project report and a final report.
