FRIENDS OF LAKE MOHAWKSIN: Lake Mohawksin AIS Control & Prevention Project
Friends of Lake Mohawksin is sponsoring an AIS ACEI grant on Lake Mohawksin in Lincoln County. Project partners include Wisconsin Public Service and Packaging Corp. of America and will focus on EWM management, and AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 50 acres and have a density rating below D=1 which will allow the Friends of Lake Mohawksin to continue management of AIS with minimal state financial assistance. This initial grant will be used to begin implementation of the four year plan.
Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM; 2) Volunteer hand removal of isolated EWM plants; 3) Annual Pre and Post treatment monitoring and analysis; 4) Kick-off meeting and volunteer AIS training; 5) Annual volunteer monitoring; 6) Recruit volunteers and expand current CB/CW program; 7) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 8) Point-intercept aquatic plant survey and 1 set of voucher specimens; 9) Develop annual project report and a final report.
