LAKE ASSOCIATION OF LONG LAKE, INC: COMP - Long Lake Comprehensive Management Plan Grant

Project Scope and Description of Deliverables

The Lake Association of Long Lake is sponsoring a project which will focus on updating a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Long Lake.

Project final deliverables include: 1) Data from water quality, lake sediments, aquatic plant survey, stakeholder survey, AIS survey, aquatic animal reports, shoreland and shallows habitat surveys, and watershed assessment; 2) Aquatic plant vouchers for any new species located; 3) Education meetings, workshops, and materials; 4) Annual reports; and 5) an Updated LMP and APMP.

Specific project activities include: 1) Sample lake water quality; 2) Sample lake sediment chemistry; 3) Conduct aquatic plant point-intercept survey (following DNR protocol); 4) Complete aquatic animal reporting and AIS survey (following DNR protocol); 5) Conduct shoreland and shallows habitat surveys (following DNR protocol); 6) Conduct watershed assessment (by volunteers and contractor) and analysis of watershed land-use and phosphorus loading using the WiLMs model; 7) Conduct a sociological survey of lake shoreline residents; 8) Develop an updated comprehensive lake management plan (LMP) including an aquatic plant management plan (APMP) as an appendix.

Special Conditions: 1) Draft stakeholder survey to be submitted to DNR for review/approval before going to public; 2) DNR Lake Biologist will be provided with a copy of reports and/or management plans; data from stakeholder survey, water quality, watershed assessment, shoreland habitat (including parcel photos), aquatic plant, and AIS surveys; all maps and GIS data; and 3) DNR Lake Biologist will be invited to management planning meetings.

This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
