SPIDER CHAIN OF LAKES IMPROVEMENT ASSN: Spider Lake CLP Rapid Response
The Spider Chain of Lakes Association in cooperation with Sawyer County Land Conservation Department will conduct an early season herbicide treatment on 10 acres of Curly Leaf Pondweed (CLP). CLP was found in 2005 and has been monitored ever since. No treatment has occurred in the past, but now CLP is expanding into high traffic areas near resorts. It has now reached a level of concern.
The project goals includes: 1) Early season herbicide treatment of ~ 10 acres of CLP in Big Spider Lake to control the spread; 2) Monitor the CLP throughout the year to determine efficacy of the herbicide treatment and to continue the mapping of CLP.
