LITTLE ST GERMAIN LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Little St. Germain AIS Control Project
Little St Germain Lake P&R District is sponsoring a four year project on Little St Germain Lake and Muskellunge Creek focusing on Curly Lake Pondweed (CLP) and Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM) management, AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the densities of CLP and EWM below dominant and the treatable CLP to <20 acres and treatable EWM to <15 acres and have a EWM frequency of <1.8% of the littoral PI points of whole lake PI survey.
Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of CLP and EWM; 2) Annual pre/post treatment monitoring and analysis; 3) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring and hand removal; 4) Purchase GPS unit and marker buoys for volunteer monitoring; 5) CB/CW program through a paid inspector; 6) Entry of inspection and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 7) Install innovative signage at boat landing; 8) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey and community mapping; 9) Annual and final reports.
