NORTH LAKELAND DISCOVERY CENTER: Town of Winchester Aquatic Plant Studies - Phase 1 - Harris

Town of Winchester Aquatic Plant Studies - Phase 1 \2013 Harris Lake Promote stakeholder involvement, inform stakeholders on various lake issues, as well as the quality of life on Harris Lake. Control Existing Aquatic Invasive Species and Prevent New Introductions to Harris Lake. Continue curly-leaf pondweed monitoring and hand-removal strategy to manage curly-leaf pondweed population in Harris Lake.

Project final deliverables include:

(1) A written report that includes all educational activities, including dates, times, and number of participants. We will provide copies of social media postings, press releases, and links to potential TV interviews. All CBCW data will be entered into SWIMS.

(2) PL biocontrol and monitoring data will be entered into SWIMS and any new detection of SWF will be sent for vouchering by the sponsor.

Specific project activities include:

(1) Three types of surveys would be performed: a point-intercept (PI) survey, an aquatic plant community mapping survey, and an early season AIS (ESAIS) survey.

(2) NLDC participates in the PL beetle biocontrol program coordinated by DNR.

(3) NLDC educational initiatives.

Special Conditions: DNR is to receive copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request. It is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft of the final report for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant.

It is strongly recommended that an annual management strategy meeting be held each winter with DNR to discuss EWM management for the next year before aquatic plant management permit applications are submitted.

This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
