LOWER NEMAHBIN LAKE ASSOCIATION: Starry Stonewort Nemahbin Launch 3
The Association is sponsoring a project to control starry stonewort (Nitellopsis obtusa) located by the public launches by the Bark River and Lower Nemahbin south of the I-94 bridge. This project continues work under AIRR27723 and AIRR25420.Deliverables: 1) NR109 harvesting reports for each removal event describing the DASH removal project, problems encountered, removal location maps, and a summary of amount of starry stonewort (SSW) and non-target plants removed. 2) APM plan, to include: a) summary of relevant survey data since 2006; b) tables comparing FOO and density of species over years; c) table with 2022 data, FOO and density; d) Species density distribution maps for EWM, SSW, and top 5 natives; e) Discuss changes in plant community; f) summarize 2019-2023 hand pulling efforts and analyze efficacy; g) Map showing points SSW found each year; h) Plan for long term management of SSW, including launch areas and new populations outside of launches; i) Options for managing EWM, including chemical or mechanical/manual; j) Clean Boats Clean Waters (CBCW) options (e.g. partnering with Waukesha County or writing an annual grant); k) Long term funding needs.Activities: 1) Two DASH removal events per summers of 2023 and 2024; 2) Annual harvesting reports; 3) Create APM plan.Special Conditions: All data shall be entered into the SWIMS database. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional AIS Biologist. If consultant is to provide the APM plan, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR AIS Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
