NORTH LAKELAND DISCOVERY CENTER: Manitowish Waters Chain of Lakes - EWM Planning - Fawn, Stone Spider

The North Lakeland Discovery Center (NLDC) is sponsoring a project to survey the extent of existing EWM populations and provide educational outreach on Fawn, Stone, and Spider Lake, as well as a section of the Upper Trout River, that will inform the development of an Aquatic Plant Management Plan for EWM on the Manitowish Chain of Lakes.

Activities: 1) Conduct ESAIS and LSAIS surveys to measure EWM populations 2) map wild rice populations between Wild Rice Lake and Manitowish Lake 3) host 3 educational/informative events 4) conduct public AIS ID and monitoring workshops, and CBCW training 5) continue CBCW

Deliverables: 1) monitoring data, maps, and reports 2) enter data in SWIMS 3) written summary of volunteer monitoring and outreach efforts 4) copies of social media postings, press releases, and links to other relevant outreach information

Conditions:

1) All monitoring shall follow DNR protocols

2) Provide progress report with each reimbursement request

3) Enter AIS monitoring and CBCW data into SWIMS

4) Provide DNR Biologist with draft version of the aquatic plant management plan for review and approval

This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.

If a consultant provides a final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR Biologist with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making a final payment to the consultant. Include electronic copy of the final report along with or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
