PELICAN LAKE ASSOCIATION INC: EWM Control Through Large Scale Mechanical Harvesting and DASH
The Pelican Lake Association (PLA) is sponsoring a project to implement approved AIS management activities (mechanical harvesting and DASH) from their comprehensive lake management plan.
Activities: 1) Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) management (mechanical harvesting and DASH); 2) volunteer EWM monitoring in harvested areas; 3) a late summer AIS meander/bed mapping survey; 4) an annual report and public informational meeting; 5) maintenance of a EWM map web based GIS viewer.
Deliverables: 1) EWM management and required permit reporting; 2) data from AIS surveys/monitoring; 3) annual AIS management and monitoring reports; 4) public informational meeting detailing project results; and 5) an online GIS EWM map viewer.
Conditions:
1) All monitoring shall follow DNR protocols; and
2) DNR shall be invited to public informational meeting.
This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
If a consultant provides a final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR Biologist with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making a final payment to the consultant. Include electronic copy of the final report along with or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
It is strongly recommended that an annual management strategy meeting be held each winter with DNR to discuss EWM management for the next year before aquatic plant management permit applications are submitted.
