BLACK OAK LAKE PRES FDN: Black Oak Lake Long Term Water Quality & Stage Monitoring, Phase 5
Black Oak Lake Riparian Owners Association is sponsoring phased lake planning project to study Black Oak Lake in Vilas County. The project will focus on aquatic invasive species (AIS) prevention activities, studying shorelands and water quality in Black Oak Lake and then update the Black Oak Lake Adaptive Management Plan (LMP). This would allow Black Oak Lake to become eligible for lake protection grant money in the shoreland restoration category.
Phase 5 project activities include: 1) Conduct water quality sampling (from Citizen Lake Monitoring Network volunteers) secchi depth, Phosphorus and chlorophyll a, and other measurements (Nitrogen, ammonia, Calcium, alkalinity, satellite secchi, pH, and conductivity); 2) Install lake stage monitoring station and begin measurements; 3) Develop water quality and lake stage monitoring plan; 4) Hire Clean Boats/Clean Waters (CB/CW) monitor and continue CB/CW program; 5) Conduct educational and outreach: water quality and stage monitoring training, press release(s) and newsletter; 6) Update LMP.
