The Inland Lakes P&R District No.1 proposes to control Eurasian water-milfoil (EWM) through chemical treatment and preventative measures in the districts boundaries of Reservoir Pond, Explosion Lake, Horn Lake, Little Horn Lake, McCaslin Brook, and the Townsend Flowage during the period of 2011-2014. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Inland Lakes P&R Districts No.1 Aquatic Invasive Species Grant application, dated July 27, 2010. The project includes conducting annual pre and post-treatment surveys, in accordance with the Department of Natural Resources established protocol, to monitor the extent of EWM and efficacy of the previous years treatment; treating EWM infested areas with aquatic herbicides; and conducting education and prevention activities to prevent further AIS infestations, including placing articles in a local newspaper, conducting watercraft inspections and Citizen Lake Monitoring.
