LOWER SPRING LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Lower Spring Lake AIS Established Infestation
The Lower Spring Lake Management District will sponsor annual herbicide treatments to control milfoil and curlyleaf pondweed in Lower Spring Lake. These treatments will be accompanied by department recommended pre- and post-treatment monitoring by the Jefferson County LWCD, and followed by herbicide concentration monitoring by local volunteers at sites and frequency designated by US Army Corp of Engineers partners. AIS signage will be maintained at the public boat landing, and students and volunteers will conduct Clean Boats Clean Waters educational outreach, after being trained by LWCD. Also, local volunteers will be monitoring the shoreline and lake for new AIS species each year. All raw data will be compiled and analyzed for a final report, submitted both in paper copy and word or .pdf document.
