KETTLE MORAINE LAKE ASSOCIATION: Kettle Moraine Lake AIS Control & Prevention
Kettle Moraine Lake Association, Inc. proposes to continue the management of both curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) and Eurasian water milfoil (EWM) in Kettle Moraine Lake and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS). Specifically, Kettle Moraine Lake Association will monitor CPL and EWM populations within Kettle Moraine Lake to create annual refined treatment strategies and determine program effectiveness, conduct large-scale herbicide treatments of CLP and smaller treatments of EWM, monitor herbicide concentrations, conduct whole-lake point-intercept and community mapping surveys, introduce native aquatic plants, and continue Clean Boats Clean Waters watercraft inspections and volunteer-based AIS monitoring and hand removal in Kettle Moraine Lake. An updated aquatic plant management plan will also be developed. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the grant application materials submitted to the Department dated August 1, 2012.
