Media (Buys, Earned Media, Outreach) - Aquatic Invasive Species
Media is an important tool to get the AIS message out to the general public and our target audience, transient boaters and anglers. Invite the media to attend local AIS events and keep them in the loop on AIS issues/success stories in your area. For guidance and ideas on how to engage your local media, contact Tim Campbell, AIS Communications Specialist for UWEX/WDNR at timothy.campbell@wisconsin.gov, (608) 267-3531.
The WDNR encourages sponsors to focus on a “Protect WI Waters/It’s the Law” message that includes the official prevention steps and Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers logo below on any visual media.
INSPECT boats, trailers and equipment
REMOVE all attached aquatic plants and animals
DRAIN all water from boats, vehicles and equipment
NEVER MOVE plants or live fish away from a water body
Radio, TV and print ads have been developed and are available for local and county AIS staff. Please feel free to modify, add logos, sponsors, etc. and use at your local level as appropriate.
