Not busy until about noon, very busy after that. Ski team was removing all watercraft and ski ramps today which caused congestion with boaters getting in and out. Why the ski team decided to do this on a holiday weekend, I will never know. I mentioned something to the water patrol when they showed up and he said he agreed this was a bad time to do this and he would say something to the town board to get this changed in future. Traffic coming in was two lanes of boats entering the water with one additional lane going out. It was so busy, parking was going up and down the road quite a ways up and down, which also caused traffic issues because of people waiting to get boats out of the way. It was so busy by the afternoon, there wasn't even a way for me to offer the power washer to be used, so I moved to the state park landing #13 for the rest of the day.00000000000000000000

One boater was notified by the state park ranger to remove weeds from his boat as he was driving to the landing. I approached him afterward to ask if he had any questions and he just swore at me. He said he shouldn't have to remove weeds when he "only uses this lake". The common excuse I hear every day I am at a landing. Somehow we need to get this message out to these people that say this. I tell them that if a warden catches them, there would be a possible fine; also telling them it is just nice to keep the boats clean for resale value in the future and prevention of spreading the problems already arisen in the lakes. On a good note, almost all boats got washed today.00000000000000000000

People area saying they are "waiting for someone to be killed" at this lake because of how bad it is. One couple in particular lives on the lake, but they do not use the lake because it is so crowded. Boating regulations are being ignored. Storm came in at about 3pm. Chaos at the landing with so many people coming off at once. Fishing tournament was also going on and they were coming off at the same time to enter their fish. A man and his wife were horribly angry at me for being there checking for weeds and even told me they have been involved with fights at this landing due to "annoying people". They had weeds on their trailer when they got there and were angry that I asked them if they would please remove them before entering the water. They did it, but chewed me out for 15 minutes. A man even passed them and went ahead of them on the landing, which then made them more angry, especially the woman. They said they only use this body of water, but right after that the man talked about being out on Winnebago and how bad it is there with people "harassing him". He also told me this was a waste of time and "why didn't you do something about this 35 years ago?" I reported them to the DNR warden who showed up a little bit after they went out on Caldron. Like High Falls Landing #3, most people were going on the lake, but not coming off it seemed. All day was like this. The wind was horrible too. A large fire started West of Crivitz and everyone could see it from across Caldron Falls. Sirens were going off everywhere. Many people talked to us, Nate and I, today at both Caldron Falls and Landing #3. Landing #3 chief complaints were that people would like a "No power loading" sign put up to prevent that large hole for entering and exiting. People also complained that they could no longer use boat landing #7 due to the water being down far enough that rocks are chewing up the propellers when trying to launch their boats. Also, while the water level is back up from what it was a week and two weeks ago, the water level is down just a bit yet. Sand was exposed the weeks prior from the dams being opened or something. People were getting a bit grumpy by then and talking to most people wasn't an option with attitudes being on the angry side. There was a dead otter on the shoreline. Either it's mate or sibling was swimming back and forth all morning while the boat traffic was at a minimum. Once the boat traffic was non-stop, it disappeared and I didn't see it come back that day. People are still complaining about the power loading going on. I have noticed that only one person power loaded properly all day. Most people do not do it correctly, which creates the large hole in the sand for trailers to have a problem.00000000000000000000

This landing was busier due to the beach tandem to the boat landing and the weather was perfect for activity. Weeds were more prevalent at boat landing #9. Curly leaf and Eurasian Water Milfoil were among the weeds found both on shore and on boats. Not a lot yet, but definitely noticeable. Bass fishing contest going on. Slow most of the morning, but late morning thru afternoon was intense. I spoke to mostly non-fishing tournament people, but I did talk with them once they were out of the water due to most of them having weeds attached to motors and trailers. Most were already removing weeds and were conscientious of taking good care of their boats. Many of the boaters I recognized through the day from being there before. I still spoke with them, but not as in-depth. There was a dead otter on the shoreline and it's mate or sibling swimming back and forth for most of the morning until the boating traffic was heavier. Busy, but not the worst I have seen on this landing. Weather was beautiful and still many tourists were out and about for the holiday weekend. Most people that said they were on the lake were those staying until Monday because the traffic wouldn't be as bad. That was a reason why it took me so long to get to work. The traffic going home on Hwy 141 was so bad there was no way to turn onto the highway from the hundreds of cars backed up going through Wausaukee.00000000000000000000

I went to each individual family and talked with them as they were fishing on the shoreline. There were over 100 people present. I gave out 80 packets of stickers and identification cards to children and families as well as ice packs to parents and grandparents. The Eurasian Water Milfoil was so bad on the shoreline the children were having a very hard time fishing in it. Most of them couldn't cast far enough to get to the water beyond the milfoil. It would be nice for us to keep this in mind for next year so that maybe the milfoil could be removed a few days before the fishing contest begins. This will help the kids have a bit more fun. It would also be a great example to people on how bad this gets with AIS.00000000000000000000
