The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) maintains a searchable database of information on activities related to property assessments and investigations, contamination, cleanup or redevelopment activities.

Before constructing or reconstructing a water supply well, you need to contact the DNR for approval of well construction specifications.

LICENSED LANDFILL OR HISTORICAL WASTE SITE

Waste Sites are sites that are located on the same property as a landfill licensed under Wis. Admin. Code NR500 or on a known historical waste site never issued a license by the DNR. Prior to constructing or reconstructing a water supply well, you need to contact the DNR for approval of well construction specifications. You may also need approval to build or excavate. GREAT LAKES AREA OF CONCERN

This Activity is part of the MILWAUKEE ESTUARY AOC Great Lakes Area of Concern (AOC), one of the geographically-defined rivers and harbor sites in Wisconsin that has suffered the greatest consequences due to pollution and habitat degradation. The goal of the AOC program is to clean up and restore these areas so that they are comparable to similar areas on the Great Lakes.
