Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
Indian Creek was put on the Impaired Waters List in the 1998 cycle for unspecified metals causing aquatic toxicity, phosphorus causing low DO and degraded biology, and sediment causing degraded habitat and elevated temperature. Indian Creek was evaluated every two-year cycle from 2014 to 2024. The phosphorus impairment was confirmed in all cycles. A chloride impairment was found in the 2018 cycle and confirmed in the 2020 cycle. In the 2022 cycle temperature evaluation showed the impairment of elevated temperature could be removed. The phosphorus and sediment listings are covered by the Milwaukee River TMDL, approved in 2018.Pollutant

Impaired Water Notes
The Milwaukee River Watershed TMDL was approved by the EPA on March 9, 2018 and covers waters in the basin impaired for Total Phosphorus, Sediment/Total Suspended Solids, and bacteria (E. coli and Fecal Coliform).
Date
3/9/2018
Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2018 listing cycle; new total phosphorus sample data exceed 2018 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category).
Date
7/6/2017
Impaired Water Notes
Based on the total phosphorus criteria excursions and the corroborating biological assessment, degraded biological community impairment was added to the existing impaired water listing in 2012.
This water was assessed during the 2012 listing cycle, and total phosphorus sample data exceed 2012 WisCALM listing criteria for the fish and aquatic life use, and biological impairment was observed (i.e. at least one macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the poor condition category).
Date

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2014 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data exceed 2014 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use and biological impairment was observed (i.e. at least one macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the poor condition category).
Date

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data exceed 2016 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use and biological impairment was observed (i.e. at least one macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the poor condition category).
Date
9/24/2015
Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2020 listing cycle; new total phosphorus sample data exceed 2020 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, no biological data (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scores) were available to assess biological impairment. Based on the most updated information, no change in existing impaired waters listing is needed. Chloride also exceed 2020 WisCALM listing criteria for Aquatic Life use. Temperature was assessed and found to be appropriate for Aquatic Life use.
