Little Menomonee Creek is impaired due to recreational use restrictions because of high levels of bacteria (fecal coliform). Fecal coliform counts exceed 400 cfu/100 ml 43% of time annually and 27% of time from May-September. There may be illicit connections or other sources since 75% of FC concentrations cannot be explained by runoff from urban land uses.
