Impaired Water Notes
A Recreational Use Impairment. Variance for fecal coliform does not apply to this tributary of the Menomonee. This creek flows into W. Br. Of Menomonee and sampling point was downstream of the confluence of these two streams. Goldenthal creek is impaired due to recreational restrictions because of high concentrations of Fecal Coliform bacteria. Fecal Coliform concentrations exceed the 400 cfu/100mL threshold 23% of time annually and 10% of time May through September. Data is from the MMSD Corridor Database housed at USGS. In SEWRPC’s Regional Water Quality Management Plan Update for the Greater Milwaukee Watersheds , the report states Fecal Coliform counts are poor on an annual basis and considered moderate through the swimming season. Land use is primarily commercial (56%) and industrial (12%) in this area.
