Impaired Water - Beaver Dam Lake (Beaver Dam Lake)
Dodge County, Wisconsin
UR03
835100
6,401.56
Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
This water was originally listed in the 2010 cycle due to a eutrophication impairment of the fish and aquatic life use caused by excess total phosphorus.

Evaluations every two-year cycle from 2012 to 2024 confirmed elevated phosphorus and algal levels.

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2018 listing cycle; new total phosphorus and chlorophyll sample data exceeded 2018 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Recreation use and Fish and Aquatic Life use.

Impaired Water Notes
Beaver Dam lake experiences significant summer algae blooms. There have been reported fish kills due to low oxygen although little DO data exists. I would expect significant diurnal fluctuations. Average Total Phosphorus concentration (2006-2008) is .34 mg/l, ten times higher than the impairment threshold of .04 mg/l for shallow lowland lakes. Average TSI based on chlorophyll a (2004-2008) is 75, which also exceeds the listing threshold of 71 for shallow lowland lakes.

Impaired Water Notes
Per 2012 WisCALM, exceeds fish and aquatic life and recreation thresholds for both TP & Chl a (2006-2010).
Date

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2014 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceed 2014 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Recreation use and Fish and Aquatic Life use and chlorophyll data exceeded REC and FAL thresholds.
Date
2/28/2014

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceeded 2016 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Recreation use and Fish and Aquatic Life use, and chlorophyll data overwhelmingly exceeded FAL thresholds and exceeded REC thresholds.
Date
10/9/2015

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2020 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceeded 2020 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Recreation use and Fish and Aquatic Life use, and chlorophyll data also exceeded REC and FAL thresholds. Based on the most updated information, no change in existing impaired waters listing is needed.

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2022 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceeded 2022 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Recreation use and Fish and Aquatic Life use, and chlorophyll data also exceeded REC and FAL thresholds. Based on the most updated information, no change in existing impaired waters listing is needed.
