Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
Johnson Creek has been on the state's 303(d) impaired waters list since 1998 for Total Suspended Solids. This stream was included in the Rock River TMDL that was approved by the U.S. EPA in 2011. This water was assessed every two year cycle from 2012 to 2024; total phosphorus was consistenly elevated. This segment has been listed for phosphorus since 2012.Pollutant

Impaired Water Notes
Johnson Creek (846700, miles 0-17.5) is a part of the Rock River Basin and is listed as impaired for total phosphorus and sediment/total suspended solids. The Rock River Basin TMDLs for phosphorus and sediment were approved by the USEPA September 28, 2011.

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2014 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceed 2014 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category).

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceeded 2016 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category).

Impaired Water Notes
This water was assessed during the 2020 listing cycle; new total phosphorus sample data exceeded 2020 WisCALM listing criteria for the Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category). Based on the most updated information, no change in existing impaired waters listing is needed.
