Water is impaired due to one or more pollutants and associated quality impacts.
Notes
Nine Spring Creek has been on the state's 303(d) impaired waters list for Total Suspended Solids and Total Phosphorus. The TMDL is approved.
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data exceed 2016 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, available biological data do not indicate impairment (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the "poor" condition category). This water was also assessed for temperature and sample data did not exceed 2016 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use.
This water was assessed during the 2018 listing cycle; new temperature sample data were clearly below 2018 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Fish and Aquatic Life use. New fish sample data exceeded 2018 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use (i.e. at least one fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) average scored in the poor condition category). Temperature impairment is proposed for removal from the TSS listing and biological impairment is proposed for addition to the TP listing.
Assessments of new data during the 2020 listing cycle showed temperature levels appropriate for healthy aquatic communities like plants, fish, and bugs. Available chloride levels did not indicate impairment. Based on updated information, the impairment of "impairment unknown" was removed in 2020.Pollutant
